These works are a series of sculptural paintings, engaged with the natural patterns that emerge in the universe. They explore the latent intelligence that organises nature in groups of shapes and colours, playing with repetition and variation.
Cows have particular pattern, but it never exactly looks identical. Yet we recognise them as belonging to cows by their adherence to a rule, or grid that we intuitively identify.
This dichotomy between the geometric and the organic, rigour and transgression, is reflected in the work, where the content is connected to the form, like costumes for the frame.
